Obituary For Tamar Forehand
Tamar Forehand was born December 30th, 1925 in Lake Wales Florida, to the late Jessie McGriff and Mamie Johnson-McGriff. She was reared by her loving parents and was one of sixteen children. She departed this life peacefully at her home on Saturday, December 11th, 2021. Sis. Forehand accepted Christ as her Lord & Savior at 8 years-old. She met and married the late Elder S.B. Forehand in 1946; they had 7 children. Sis. Forehand was a faithful servant of God and a wonderful homemaker who loved to cook and care for her family. She was at one time the first lady of Greater Church of God by Faith on Old Middleburg Road and Church of God by Faith at Jacksonville Beach, where she served in many capacities. She took pride in caring for children, enjoyed cleaning her home and caring for her many plants; all while singing her favorite hymns. Sis. Forehand always expressed the importance of giving thanks to God: “Thank the Lord for Life” was one of her favorite phrases. She loved to give of herself and her belongings to ensure no one went without. Mrs. Forehand always enjoyed the company of friends, family, church members and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her husband: Elder S.B. Forehand; a daughter: Scherrie ForehandJackson; and two grandchildren: Benny Forehand & Kevin Forehand. She is survived by three sons: Samuel B. Forehand Jr. (Shirley-Jean deceased), Paul Forehand Sr. (Brenda), Roosevelt Forehand (Fina), and Frederich Forehand (Sabine); two daughters: Vanessa Bertrand and Alena Forehand; Grandchildren: Keith Forehand (Cynthia), Victaveon Forehand, Ronald Bertrand, Tangela Jones (Michael), Kisha Bertrand, Paul Forehand ll, Cecilia Forehand, Ashley Forehand, Broderick Forehand, Jermel Forehand, Joel Forehand, Kristen Thomas, Jason Thomas, Chanelle Jackson (Terrance), LaDeirdre Forehand, Terra Bacon, Rekkia Shivers, and George Carter; 36 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. “That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:9–10 NKJV
